GENESIS EV – THE FUTURE OF ELECTRIC CARS

In 2025, a decade after Genesis branched off from its parent company Hyundai, the luxury car brand will completely reinvent itself. Coming after the reveal of the GV60 crossover – Genesis’ first electric model – the brand announced its EV only vision.

GENESIS EV EXPECTATIONS

Becoming the first Hyundai-owned car brand to declare a full transition to electric vehicles, Genesis accelerates towards the future much faster than many of its competitors. In a YouTube channel released by the brand, Genesis laid out its plans for the future and announced its electrification strategy.

By the year 2025, the luxury car company strives to have completely phased out internal combustion cars- fully transitioning to electric vehicles. This transition is kickstarted by the anticipated arrival of the GV60, Genesis’ first all-electric SUV. Next in the strategy, is the zero-emission goal. By 2030, Genesis aims to become fully zero-emission. And finally, the last part of the strategy points to the brand becoming carbon-neutral by 2035. The goals are daring, to say the least, but Genesis has carefully laid out the framework and necessities to make this happen, including reorganizing its entire value chain: from raw materials and auto parts to the operation of the work sites.

Genesis doesn’t stop there, though. The automaker announced a “dual electrification” strategy, claiming that “Genesis will put an effort on developing pure electric technologies such as new fuel cell systems with higher power output, and electric systems that help improve efficiency. In addition, Genesis will devote itself to building next-generation technology that draws better performance and efficiency from lithium-ion batteries.”

GENESIS EV DARING TO BE DIFFERENT

Genesis, in the video it released, proved that the brand isn’t afraid to stand out from the crowd. Planning to “continue to design a new dimension of customer experience and build an authentic relationship with our customers”, Jay Chang, the global head of Genesis promises that the brand will “take audacious steps to lead the age of electrification into the sustainable future.”

Appearing alongside Chang in the video, the chief creative officer at Genesis, Luc Donckerwolke, claimed the new electric lineup of Genesis “is the perfect platform to increase our interface with our customers.”

“We aim to interact with all their senses. Our new architecture will integrate audacious technologies and breathtaking designs while providing sincere detail-oriented experiences. Warm and exquisite care will be our differentiator.” he said, asserting that Genesis will set itself apart from any rivals or competitors in this new age.

BY 2025…

Of course, don’t expect non-electric cars to have disappeared from all Genesis dealerships by 2025. Traditional Genesis vehicles will remain in production for a few years after 2025, so there will still be some gas-engine models available for purchase. However, do expect more and more electric models to be released from Genesis before 2025 and, obviously, after. 2030, the year Genesis aims to attain zero-emissions, is when gas-engine models are predicted to stop production. By then, Genesis plans to have a range of eight electric car models, with the goal to accomplish sales of 400,000 units per year.

THE GENESIS EV

Though 2025 is a few years away, buyers can expect the GV60, Genesis’ first all-electric SUV, to arrive in the spring of this year. “Created for those with a vision of the future, being now” according to the automaker, the GV60 will ensure that the most beloved features of previous Genesis models- the elegant and sleek design, comfortable and spacious interior, and impressive technology- will be present in the new electric model.
